“Good Tidings, A Good Noise Gospel Christmas!” has become Metro Vancouver’s must-see concerts of the Christmas season. With unprecedented sell-outs a full month before concert weekend, you are invited to purchase your tickets well in advance. Good Noise Artistic Director, Gail Suderman, has planned another glorious program of gospel, jazz and soul Christmas favourites, sure to get audiences into the spirit of the season. Featuring Guest Artist, Katherine Penfold.
With the powerful voices of both Good Noise and the Hallelujah Praise Mass Gospel Choir, “Singin’ In My Soul” will be a concert that encourages all to set the cares of the world aside as both choir and audience members raise their collective voices in joy and praise. Music ranging from powerful arrangements of traditional Spirituals to contemporary gospel music will be featured, with performances by both choirs, Good Noise soloists, and the Good Noise Gospel Band.
Gospel music played a significant role in the Civil Rights Movement. Gospel artists took a stand for equal rights and joined with musicians in the folk and popular music genres to share the messages of equality and justice. Once again, in our present day, we look to what it means to “be free”, to be reminded that there is still work to do so that all are treated with dignity and respect. For “Stand Up For Something”, Good Noise will bring the music of the Civil Rights Movement as well as songs of today’s artists that speak to standing up for something – music by Stevie Wonder, Sting, Andra Day, Common, Marvin Gaye, John Legend, Curtis Mayfield, Sam Cooke and others.
